Sippy Cup Hallucinations

You have to give them credit. Those brave TSA agents know a threat when they see one and, once again, they have prevented a deadly terrorist attack. It took just 3 TSA agents and 4 police officers to avert what could have been a major tragedy.

You are undoubtedly familiar by now with what has been described as the sippy cup incident. On June 11th at Reagan National Airport in Virginia, "terrorist" Monica Emmerson and her 19 month old "terrorist" son were going through security when they were stopped, just in the nick of time, by Transportation Security Administration agents.

The toddler's sippy cup was seized because it contained either water or a secret bomb-making liquid. His mother offered to drink the water if they would return the cup. The TSA refused, the boy began to cry for his cup, and they were escorted out of the security area. At which point she tried to drink the water and accidentally spilled it.

She was threatened with arrest for endangering the passengers with the spilled water, and ordered to clean it up, which she did, on hands and knees, with paper towels.

She was detained against her will and threatened with arrest for disrespecting a TSA officer. She apologized, and was still detained for 45 minutes, just long enough to miss her flight. She was never questioned about any "terrorist" activity or connections and her luggage received only a cursory search. She was just detained, humiliated, intimidated, harassed and threatened with arrest. All because of a deadly sippy cup.

This incident, unfortunately, is fairly typical of the abuse suffered by anyone who is required to fly. Two year olds required to remove their shoes. Your girlfriend or your grandmother groped in public. War medals and nail clippers confiscated. And when a 14 year old is ordered to drink contaminated science project pond water - we are in serious trouble.

Security isn't the question. Just manufacture another phony "terrorist" incident, and eliminate more freedoms. It's all about control! And we pay for the privilege! Taxpayer costs in the millions and hundreds of millions - and billions - for the right to be abused and harassed and treated like the herd of sheeple we've become.

The sippy cup incident apparently hit a nerve. Unbelievably, many online commentators take the position that so-called "security" is paramount, no matter what the cost. I've actually seen advice given as "keep your head down." Said, apparently, with a straight face. Perhaps that advice-giver, and others of the same ilk, should be required to wear a badge saying "I am a Sheeple. Kick me. Sieg Heil." Or something to that effect.

I also read what I believe to be a more appropriate response. "Carry two passports. Put some money in Euros. Own, if you can, property outside the US.

I happened to catch a bit of "news" about the sippy cup story on CNN this morning. Next to nothing about the actual incident was covered. A 5 second surveillance tape clip was shown of Monica Emmerson walking away and apparently emptying the child's water cup, then kneeling to clean it up. No mention of arrest threats or harassment by 7 security personnel or being detained for 45 minutes - or anything else.

After showing the clip, the moderator asked listeners to call an opinion poll number - to register whether or not Ms. Emmerson deliberately or accidentally spilled the water. As if that was the paramount question. Unbelievable! Way to go, CNN. Your reputation for news manipulation remains intact.

Can you say Police State? I thought you could. We are about an inch away from becoming one. One more "terrorist" incident, real or manufactured, should be enough to remove the few remaining freedoms we have left.

I keep praying for an asteroid to strike Washington. When Congress is in session. But that doesn't seem to be working out. The way things are going, we don't have many choices left. We can accept our sheeple status and recognize that the real terrorists are running the government. That's one choice. Keep your head down. Live in fear. Hope for the best. And if that's your choice, you're welcome to it. Good luck. You'll need it.

But I seriously think there's a breaking point. We'll put up with this kind of garbage for only so long. And then we'll act to take back the rights we so willingly gave away.

But wait! I just thought of a relatively harmless way to do it. What if we, all 300 million of us, just had a sit in, or a sit down, or just congregated in front of city hall - for a day or a week or a month - or however long it would take. No work by anybody, except for emergency services. We could bring this country to a halt!

The dollar is almost in freefall now. Let's just speed it up. Can you picture the economy at a complete and absolute standstill? With billions in illegal profits disappearing every day? We just keep it up until our freedoms are restored. Until the fascist government capitulates and surrenders their absolute control. And then, let the war crimes trials begin.

Could it happen? Probably not. But there's always hope. So far. Although we're in danger of losing even that. Just remember Ben Franklin's famous quote. "Anyone who trades liberty for security deserves neither liberty nor security." Truer words were never spoken.
