How To Find Free VOIP

When it comes to finding free VOIP (voice over internet protocol) you need to ensure that both you and the person you wish to talk to have the same software downloaded on to their PCs. Therefore if you are someone who has Skype VOIP software on their PC then the person you wish to talk to should have the same software package on their PC as well. But in order to get the best out of this technology you will need to have the following:-

1. A good high speed internet connection such as LAN (local area network) or DSL (a high speed service).

2. A computer plus an adapter.

3. A special VOIP or broadband phone or you may decide to use a good quality headset with microphone attached.

4. The essential software that allows you to make all your VOIP calls.

However when it comes to obtaining free VOIP you may find that you are causing yourself more problems than you would expect if you are using a normal land line. Certainly you will find that you are actually saving money when the service is working properly but you will find it much more difficult to use especially when there are problems with your internet service or connection. Also it is important that you place a good security system on your PC in order to prevent any calls that you make from being hijacked otherwise you will then find that others can become party to your conversations with others without you even knowing about it.

Also when it comes to using the services for obtaining free VOIP calls it is important that you choose a company who is going to be available on a regular continuous basis. Certainly if this is the only way in which you are going to primarily use this as your way of communicating with others then you need to look closely at what areas each service provider covers along with how much they actually charge you to use their service initially.

If you are seriously considering using a free VOIP ser vice then you need to look closely at those providers who are able to meet your needs as much as possible as well as what kind of rating they have in the market place. You will also need to look at each one to discover which is the most affordable and what exactly each has to offer in their particular plans. If you are someone who is likely to be making a lot of international calls then you need to find a free VOIP service provider that offers you both local, national and international calls as part of their package or else you may find your bills becoming higher because you are required to pay an additional fee to make international calls. By comparing the various services that the providers have to offer will help you in the end to make a more informed decision as to whether free VOIP is worth having or not.

The Strategy of Leadership is Thinking, Vision, and Planning - The Future Depends On It

Grammar speaks of events occurring in three plains. The past was, the future will happen, and we live now, the present. However, operating in the information age, the age of instant global communication, makes the future now. Gates [1] wrote we are citizens of an information society. He noted that past generations, and past societies found ways to gather information, get more work done, increase life spans, and improve their standards of living. Time was not as critical in those past ages. A message from a ruler may take months to arrive by sea courier. The Pony Express was six days. Airmail was cross-country overnight. The time span between thought and action are virtually unidentifiable today. Although leaders rely on collective knowledge sharing, leaders who engage in strategic thinking, imagining events as happening rather than will happen, allows them to view the present as their personal and organizational future.

This paper considers how important strategic thinking is for leaders who want to shape their future and the future of their environment. Strategic thinking is the starting point for creating vision. Traditional planning gives way to flexible organizational structures that change on the fly.

Strategy in past generations allowed leaders time for thinking, sensing a vision, clarifying the vision, articulating it to begin considering action plans. Accepting that the future is no longer an event to happen later, this paper explores how leaders think, envision, articulate, and plan. How do leaders continue to use strategy to their advantage in a rapidly changing global environment? The answer is in the age of possibilities [2]. Today, as never before we are free from traditional bonds of work, we are free to choose our futures as well as shape them to suit our own desires and needs.

This age is an extension of Gates information society. We have the ability to choose our reality in a way that never before existed. In the past, a bakers son became a baker. However, many leaders of the past came from unexpected places. The Biblical King David was the young son tending sheep (1 Samuel 16:11) and Jesus was just the carpenters son whose mother we know (Matthew 13:55) [3]. Truman had leadership thrust upon him. These people saw a point on the horizon but events changes their vision. The age of possibilities allows us to rewrite our future as events dictate.

Accepting that we can change as events dictate suggests that there is a less linear structure in this image and a more chaotic non-linear structure. Sanders [4] describes an organizational structure as a known initial condition but the future appears random. Using the model of the Lorenz Attractor, she presents a view of interacting and interrelated parts that appear disorderly until a closer inspection reveals the spiraling order hidden in the model. The Gates information society and the Taylor and Wacker age of possibilities do not depend on a linear progression of thought and action and Sanders holds the non-linear nature of the new science of strategic thinking allows us to understand natural order on its own terms.

Strategy

Does strategy have some mythical or mystical property? Leaders and leadership use the word in many contexts, perhaps not really acknowledging what strategy is. Therefore, a simple working definition of strategy for this paper is the deliberate means of attaining an outcome, being visionary.

Mintzberg, et al [5] explains that strategies inevitably have advantages and disadvantages. The advantage of setting direction is charting a course; however, the disadvantage is narrowing vision, hiding dangers. The advantage of focusing effort is coordination of activity; however, the disadvantage is groupthink. Having a definition of the organization provides understanding of the organization; however, the definition may hide the complexity of the supporting systems. Having a strategy that provides consistency establishes order in a way that reduces ambiguity; however, creative groups appear to operate with little or no consistency.

Strategy involves paradoxes as the above paragraph suggests. One paradox tells us the story of answers and questions, once you think you have all the answers, someone changes all the questions. Taylor and Wacker state this paradox as, The more you are right, the more wrong you will be. This contradiction confuses the reader, if you are right, how can you be wrong? How? The speed of knowledge accelerated beyond our ability to absorb it in our traditional learning pattern.

Another paradox for visionary leaders involves predicting the future. Leaders who are successful predictors of the future act as agents destabilizing the present. Taylor and Wacker explain that todays realities and tomorrows expectations collide. The allocation of resources between present and future produce a massive future-based political problem with huge consequences for the present.

Strategy at Work

The State of Nebraska recently made National news with the passage of LB1024 that, in effect, created segregated school sub-districts in Omaha. The bill was the Unicamerals way to defeat intercity lawsuits claiming One City One School District. The City of Omaha annexed several small suburban communities to its west, provides police, fire, and city services to these communities; however, the communities remained independent school districts.

The City of Bellevue annexed several Sanitary Improvement Districts (SID) to its west, provides police, fire and city services to these incorporated SIDs. Previous mayors and city councils of Bellevue and Papillion drew arbitrary boarders marking the fringes of the two cities school districts in, what were then, unincorporated zones. Population growth attached itself close to Bellevue. Now, Bellevues city limits extend beyond the school district boarders. Therefore, Bellevue claims One City One School District.

By passing this bill, Senator Chambers [6] acknowledged formal segregation of the districts. LB1024 created two super-districts, one in Omaha, and one in Bellevue. In Omaha, the super-district has three independent sub-districts. The independent sub-districts have authority over teacher hiring, measures of teacher/student success under federal No Child Left Behind, and administration of their own budget. The super-district has academic authority over the smaller sub-districts.

The strongest supporter of the LB1024 is the States strongest proponent of desegregation. Why did Senator Ernie Chambers of the States 11th district support the bill? He claimed the Omaha school district is already segregated. Segregation re-occurred with the end of bussing in 1999. Yet, no Omaha high school is more than 48 percent African American.

Bellevue Mayor Jerry Ryan acknowledged the drain on city funds fighting to redraw school district lines. The fight in Bellevue and Papillion is over federal dollars to schools with a population of children of military families. Offutt Air Force Base is located near Bellevue and military dependent children attend elementary and secondary schools in both cities. Redrawing district lines would result in more federal money to the Bellevue Public School District.

Strategic Thinking and Vision

Reading the paragraphs above may leave the reader asking, What were they thinking? Recall the paradox of predicting the future affects the present in adverse ways, yet successful leaders operate as though the future is now.

Another view is that nothing turns out exactly as expected. This may leave leaders in an action quandary: Strategic thinking in the midst of shifting paradigms servers to help organizations identify, respond to, and influence changes in its environment.

Strategic thinking allows leaders to think in terms of opportunities to innovate and influence their future and the future of their organization. Strategic thinking aids in abandonment of policies and procedures that are outdated, obsolete, or ineffective.

Strategic thinking is having an awareness of what has not yet taken shape, having foresight. Foresight has a facet that is an individual ability and behavior and it can be a process or activity in business. On a macro level, foresight is a global practice. Note, reaching a macro level must pass from micro individual, through mezzo organizational, to reach macro. Foresight starts with the individual leader seeing or sensing something better [7].

Foresight is more than vision; it is visionary. Being a visionary leader means being provocative and questioning rather than seeing answers. Mintzberg, et al (1998) calls upon visionary leaders to operate on emotional and spiritual resources, values, aspirations, and commitment. Leaders need a mental image, build a mental model of a desirable future state. The visionary state is as simple as a dream or complex as a written document outlining the dream in measurable steps.

Visionary leaders must next translate the dream of the desirable future state into a vision they can share with the organization. Sharing a vision must be proactive, must be like a theater performance. Mintzberg, et al addresses performance by the leader as a rehearsal. Rehearsal is the practice of the vision, learning everything they can about the vision. Upon becoming comfortable in rehearsal, the leader must openly perform the vision. Performance brings a dream to life; however, performance has no value without the attending audience. The organizational audience views the performance while feeling empowered to mimic the performance. Organizational mimicking of the performance serves as a starting point for transformation to a higher state of consciousness, becoming, as Senge [8] describes, a learning organization.

Bellevue, Nebraska is the third largest city in the state. Eight years ago, Jerry Ryan made his first run for Bellevue Mayor winning an election against a popular mayor. Bellevues population in 1998 was about 29,000. Improvements in transportation, cost of housing and housing developments, and growth in retail and commercial ventures has caused an explosion in population to almost 50,000 with an extended sphere of services into not yet annexed developments of an additional population of about 15,000.

In the May 2006 primary, Mayor Ryan [9] ran against a field of opponents. Mayor Ryan ran on the ideal that Bellevue has reached a size that requires a full time mayor devoted to the city. Opponents, all in their seventies, do not share his view. Mayor Ryan won the majority of primary votes telling the city his vision. In interview with Mayor Ryan, he expressed how hard it is to run a city of 50,000 part-time. Citizens think I run the city. They are not aware that it is the City Council that approves all action. And, the City Council doesnt want a full time mayor, said Ryan in interview. If there is one thing Ive failed to do, said Ryan, is adequately share my thinking and vision within the council.

In the One City One School District battle in Omaha, the school district argued that incorporation of suburban districts into Omaha would create a broader tax base, allow for creation of magnet schools throughout the district, and more equitably share resources. Senator Chambers, in support of LB1024, argued that schools already segregated would have more administrative control over their districts to create educational opportunities for racially distinct schools by racially distinct administrators. Opposition to LB1024 was high before its passing, the Governor faced strong opposition for signing it, the Attorney General believes it is in violation of federal law and unconstitutional and Omahas most famous citizen, Warren Buffet, expressed his strong opposition.

Senator Chambers is the only African-American state senator who is controversial and outspoken. Many of his claims include racially provocative statements against police, school administrators, teachers, and fellow senators. By contrast, to Mayor Ryan, Senator Chambers does not appear to have a vision based on strategic thinking. Senator Chambers term in the Unicameral ends in 2008 and he cannot run again because of imposed term limits.

Morgan [10] offers some thoughts on social construction of reality. What he writes is people have images of themselves and these images unfold into their reality. Two leaders identified thus far have diversely different views of reality. One holds a vision of what can be for the city while the other fights against change using deeply entrenched assumptions of the power of others to shape events.

Another person, a division head of a large First Data Corporation region [11], offered some insight into strategic thinking and being visionary. In an impromptu interview, she held that having a focus on what is possible helped her rise within a company at a time when it was having serious leadership troubles. When everyone else was seeking safety, she sought innovation-providing direction when it appeared there was none. Her member services region is the western United States, Canada, and Mexico. She said, I thrive on chaos. When things look the most confused, I see my division diversified, flattened, with empowered subordinate managers.

Our dialogue continued on chaos with Kim conceding she manages chaos within set organizational plans and policies. This lead to her admission that she is more ordered in her expectations and spends more time planning than thinking and creating vision.

Strategic Planning

Hill and Jones [12] discuss strategic planning with the same cautions of Davis [13]. One concept of planning is doing so under uncertainties. In life and business, the only certain is uncertainty. Organizations cannot plan for the future because it is unpredictable. Another consideration is planning cannot be a top-management function alone. This ivory tower planning may result in senior leaders thinking in a vacuum, being enthusiastic about a plan and having no operational realities. Finally, strategic planning often suffers because planners have a short-range view of the current environment missing the dynamics of the competitive environment.

Mintzberg, et al devotes a section to Plannings Unplanned Troubles. They explain that planning establishes inflexibility. They support the assertion presented above with the fallacy of predetermination. This fallacy says organizations are able to predict the direction of their environment, are able to exercise control over the environment, or simply to assume its stability. Because analysis is not synthesis, strategic planning has never been strategy making.

Reverse course a little, planning is not a bad thing when used in cohort with strategic thinking and visionary leadership. It is applying the controlling element strategy to planning that causes problems. Morgan argues in favor of plans and planning when created in a visionary framework that can evolve as circumstances change. What they insinuate in relating the tail of the Strategic Termites is unpredictability of organizational structure. An organizations leader does not need a strategic plan to impose order. Order, like in a termite colony, emerges in an evolutionary way. Planning is not guided by plans rather by a sense of know what the organization wants to ultimately achieve. Ideas, action, and events occur separately but self-organizing yet apparently disorganized groups of termites seize the opportunity to initiate change.

The Future Depends On It

Seeing the future depends on foresight. Having a future view and strategically thinking of the future creates a new paradigm, part of the paradoxes already discussed. One old paradigm suggests future thought as a prediction and development of plans based on the prediction. Making plans establishes policy necessary to reach the predicted future. When the predictions fail to materialize an organization scrambles to recover. Another paradigm is the invention of the future. This means people both construe and become constrained by the structures they enact and change through practice. Gaspar [7] refers to the work of Mintzberg, et al, saying the old paradigms do not work in future thinking organizations. She tells us we must integrate a strategy that includes patterns and perspectives with planning and positioning.

Take a view of American companies 100 years ago. Of the top 12 companies 100 years ago, ten dealt in selling commodities. Today, of the top 12 U.S. companies, three deal in commodities. The remaining nine companies deal in services, manufacturing, and high technology [14]. The only thing certain is change and business leaders must learn to cope with it in order to manage it. Coping with change and managing it mean businesses can profit from it. The future of business is knowledge driven. Countries must be smart, companies must be smart, and people must be smart.

Countries, companies, and people must be equally smart at the same time. To win the future game, each of the three must anticipate and adapt to change in order to manage it effectively. Mayor Ryan admitted that government is slow to change. By example, he cited the city council established a steering committee to investigate whether the city needed to spend money for computers in the mayors office. The city has a web presence but the city council did not adopt an intra- and inter-city email system until the steering committee received confirmation from surrounding cities of their system usage. The mayor is 72; by contrast, the average age of the city council is about 63. Mayor Ryan recognizes the value of technology and aggressively seeks younger citizens to enter city government. He hopes forward thinking younger people will drive the risk adverse council toward active and aggressive risk management.

Senator Chambers is the longest serving Senator in the Nebraska Unicameral. He is 69 years old and suffered racial slurs and isolation from fellow senators when he took office. Slurs and threats, chalked on his capitol office door, remain and he considers these a badge. He does not appear on the senate floor in suit and tie. He wears blue jeans and sweat shirts in protest to conformity. However, Senator Chambers seems to exist in an era when racism and segregation were the norm. He rarely seeks coalition with other senators preferring to be a voice of defiance [15].

These two leaders view the future differently. While one hopes to achieve the future by recruiting younger forward thinking people into the political system, the other remains rooted in the past. Neither manages the future proactively but approach the future based on present and past experiences not through information seeking, strategic thinking, and visionary mental modeling.

Conclusion

This paper discussed strategy, strategic thinking and vision making, planning, and the future. These are not separate activities although the discussion presents them individually. By recognizing the Lorenz Attractor as a spiral of interacting parts of an organization, one can also find this model fits a non-linear process of thinking, vision, and planning. Seeing the future as an evolving present helps leaders comprehend that rigid policies based on formalized strategic plans inhibit response to change.

Strategic thinking and vision creation suggests that leaders continually test their mental model with new thinking and questioning progressively looping thinking, vision, and new information into new thinking. This cycle process allows leaders to anticipate disruptions in the business cycle. Leaders who question themselves asking, what if know what if These leaders are future seeking and organizations employing these leaders are future seeking learning organizations prepared to change before change occurs.

This paper does not deny the value of planning as part of a strategic process. However, rigid planning that does not calculate the shifting horizon of organizational development leaves the company questioning, What happened, rather than whats happening.

Foresight allows for strategic management, forecasting and positioning of an organization. The outcome from foresight in business is the anticipated future becoming an inevitable future.

What You See Is What You Get!

Despite the rise of organic foods, natural alternatives and healthy lifestyles, Americans continue to gorge themselves on junk food. Eating right has never been easy in modern America. The onslaught of television commercials, print ads and billboards are simply hard to ignore.

It should be no secret to anyone that Americans equate portion size with value. Perhaps that explains why buffets are so popular. Eat as much as you want for one price.

Like a life insurance executive pouring over complex actuarial tables to formulate the perfect premiums versus life expectancy, restaurant managers crunch the numbers and calculate the best price for their bread and butter the buffet.

But, perhaps, it is not the volume most patrons crave. Three-plate-fillers aside, most customers just want more variety.

And it is more than a simple desire to give each family their favorite dish. Studies show that we respond to numerous choices by trying a little of everything. Unfortunately, we do so without regard to portion size and end up overeating.

For many of us, variety itself is enough. Variety equals value.

And restaurants are catching on. Many restaurants offer Choose Two options that include a combination of two smaller portion entrees for a few dollars more. We have also witnessed the return of family style dining a kind of miniature buffet at your table.

At the same time, restaurateurs all over are finding success with smaller portions and smaller prices. To many it is a bit of a conundrum. So how do you get customers to identify your restaurant with value without fifty-foot buffets, family style meals and Paul Bunyon-size portions?

Smart managers are combining smaller portions and lower prices with additional courses. Instead of serving a large salad and entre, customers are treated to small appetizers, small salads, a small portion three part entre, and delightful desserts. The larger variety and lower prices give patrons the value they want and the restaurant managers the sales they desire.

It seems variety is indeed the spice of life!

Cooking Roast Prime Rib on the Grill

Love the taste of prime rib? Love the taste of barbecue? You can combine them together for cooking roast prime rib on the grill. It takes a bit longer than hamburgers, but cooking roast prime rib on the grill gives you a fabulous roast that everyone enjoys.

You need a lot of charcoal for cooking prime rib on the grill. The cooking time is about two hours so you need about 8 pounds of good quality charcoal. Fire up the charcoal and wait until the flames die down and the charcoal is giving off a good heat.

When cooking prime rib on the grill, you don't want the meat to be directly over the hot coals. Move them over to one side of the grill so that you can place the roast on the other side. Before putting the meat on the barbecue, rub the exterior with a mixture of coarse salt, pepper and herbs.

You can use either bone on or bone off when cooking roast prime rib on the grill. You can ask the butcher to remove the bones and then tie them back onto the meat. This gives you the best of both worlds -- easy carving and great tasting ribs.

Place the meat on the grill and cover it tightly. If the cover has vents, you want to close them as well. Check the grill from time to time to make sure it has enough heat to for cooking roast prime rib on the grill. If it cools off, you can open the events to let the flames build up again.

After two hours of cooking roast prime rib on the grill, take the cover off and check the temperature with a meat thermometer. The interior will be about 115 when the meat is rare, and 150 is well done. Be sure to check the temperature as close to the middle as possible.

After cooking roast prime rib on the grill to your taste, remove it from the grill and let it sit for about 15 minutes before serving. I hope you bought a big enough roast because your guests will ask for seconds and thirds!

George Bush Speeds Toward Political Success In Iraq

There are many synonyms for the word stubborn, often derived from reference to the mule. As we go along, we invite you to pop in the one you feel is most appropriate.

The Iraqi resistance to political success is contentiously mule-headed, but George Bush is so determined to get the factions moving that he seems to be sprouting his own telltale ears.

Imagine! Here are the Iraqis a disputatious troika of Shiites, Sunnis, and Kurds with the promise of a free and prosperous nation before them, but they just cant bring themselves to put aside their self-interested agendas and pull together. And here is George Bush, cracking the whip as if the mulish sectarians can somehow transform themselves into a team of dutiful dray horses.

Of course, we understand that the political leaders in Iraq know well that their support depends on their fellow vigilant and self-seeking sectarians, whose agendas they can only moderate at their own political peril and, given the explosive means of disagreement in Iraq, very likely at the peril of their lives.

Thankfully, at least a smattering of George Bushs fellow republicans are beginning to side with the insufficiently effectual Democrats and vote to let the President know its past time for him to get off the buckboard and startle the Iraqi mules by letting them know their future is under their own hooves.

He has, at least, presented the Iraqi government with a timeline to achieve certain milestones, but his own dug-in stubbornness mocks the idea that there arent extensions in the offing.

True, just recently the Iraqi government passed a draft of an oil-revenue sharing bill, which Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki called the most important law in Iraq. But it was passed with the Sunny bloc boycotting the session, when the Sunnis are the very ones the Shiites and Kurds need to participate in the reconciliation process. Making the breakthrough seem unlikely, the very next day there were reports that the disputatious asses had not actually agreed on the measure.

Imagine Americas Founding Fathers debating, as the most important matter on their urgent agenda, a formula for revenue sharing.

Certainly, the citizens of Iraq, our own soldiers, and the citizens of the US at large deserve more than to be asked to be patient while all we hear is unproductive whinnying. Weve said for a long time that these sectarians need to fight out their differences on their own until they realize their common interests are their only hope.

The more radical among them might also realize that they are the dupes of an impossible dream, hyped by the evidently delusional Ayman al-Zawahiri, who has now announced in a video that the Islamic caliphate he longs for is already set up in Iraq and that the collapse of the West is imminent.

What this isolated man and his rabid followers need is a reformative reality check, like a visit to the thriving metropolises of the West. Having observed the enormity and prosperity of these cities, they might even decide that for their own good they ought to take their little selves home and work toward the economic success of their own people.

But back to the main mules and the mule driver.

Far too many of our troops have died and been wounded to give the Iraqi government time to get their act together. Weve also expended so much of our national treasure on them that we cant even afford to fund healthcare for our own citizens.

What about the argument that, if we depart too soon, Al-Qaeda in Iraq will take over? Give this boondoggle a rest. The Iraqis have too much national pride to let such a disgrace descend on them. We can already see their tribal chiefs turning on Al-Qaeda.

The longer Bush insists on whipping the Iraqi government into the enormous agenda of cooperative achievements required for successful nationhood, the longer his own ears will appear to grow.

The truth obtains for the argumentative mules and the insistent mule driver: jackass behavior begets a jackass destiny.

Letting A Woman Look Through Your Phone Or Emails

Sometimes when you are in a relationship with a woman you must not allow her to do certain things; not because you have something to fear rather to maintain control of the relationship and keeps her from getting into the habit of doing it.

For instance, some women think that looking through your phone at night and reading your emails is a good way to make sure that you aren't up to anything sneaky.

Some women take it a step further by demanding your passwords as well.

The reason why women get away with this kind of stuff is because if you have nothing to hide, her having the information is irrelevant.

Yet, the reality of the situation is a woman who would do these kinds of things already doesn't trust you and you giving her the information she wants isn't going to change that. Of course, some women do these things not because they don't trust you, rather they are simply testing you or don't know any better.

In other words, they are the type of women that you don't want to be with anyways. Also, when you don't allow a woman this kind of free range into your privacy, the women that do stay with you will respect you more as well as know that you are in control; which can only increase their attraction for you.

In the end, if you are with a woman who even begins to think about going through your phone or email account, know that now is the time to let her know that type of behavior will not be tolerated.

The 12 Steps Based on Eastern Wisdom

Step One

We admitted that we were bound by the illusion of ego-created pleasures and that our life was full of suffering.

Step one allows an individual to admit and recognize what is controlling his/her life. It is a chance for the person to become aware of the immense control that the ego has in their life and what this demanding control is causing in regards to the self-created suffering. This awareness is necessary in order to initiate the process of internal growth and recovery from the demands of the ego.

Step Two

Came to believe that the universal consciousness, that pervades the cosmos and resides within our being, could restore us to our true nature and eliminate suffering.

This step allows one to tap into that which has all power the universal consciousness. This source will allow for connection with the pure-self and the true nature of the universe. This restores the individual to pure-thought and right-action in order to get rid of self-created suffering and karma.

Step Three

Made a decision to detach from our insatiable ego and the illusory world and connect to the pure consciousness of the universe.

This step is about taking the initiative to begin searching for the true-self and detaching from the illusion of the ego. Once this decision has been made practice of meditation begins. This is a crucial step upon our journey because it gives us hope that there is something else besides the world of boundaries and limitations.

Step Four

Contemplated and expressed in written form our desires, fears, regrets, and attachments of the ego without judgment.

This is a vital step, which requires meditative and analytical thought about the nature of our worldly life without passing judgment on the past. We begin to realize that these actions were part of our illusion of what reality was and realize that now through meditation and growing awareness that we DO NOT have to act this way again.

Step Five

Allowed ourselves to become fully aware of our egoic attachments and delusions in an accepting manner.

This is when we look at all the past actions and currents attachments of step four and recognize the true reality of the illusion. We now are able to let go of the past and live in the present moment with full awareness.

Step Six

We were entirely ready to let go of the delusions of the mind and surrender to the omnipresent universal source.

This step is the letting go of the illusions of the past and creating a commitment to surrender and practice the principles of eastern wisdom. It is important to state our readiness for change and acknowledge it within our self, as well as the universe around us.

Step Seven

Contemplated and gained awareness of our shortcomings without judging or condemning ourselves, but allow total acceptance and forgiveness of these ego created quandaries.

This step is crucial for one to accept that they are not their ego or minds. We can overcome our shortcomings and come to know our true self, which, is the perfection of pure consciousness.

Step Eight

Began to nurture and practice compassion and forgiveness for ourselves and others who we harmed by our past actions.

This step focuses on relieving guilt and regret for the past and beginning now to realize that those actions do not define the self. Also discussed concerning this step would be the ability to eliminate suffering based on karma by right actions and right thoughts in the present moment where reality exists.

Step Nine

Directly apologized with compassion and sincerity to ourselves and to those we directly and indirectly harmed.

This is an action step that allows us to explicitly offer our amends to ourselves and those we may have harmed in our past. This step is a continuation of step eight and allows the guilt and regret to further diminish and eventually be released fully in order for us to immerse ourselves in the present moment.

Step Ten

Continued to seek awareness of our true self and practice right thought and right action in each moment of our lives.

This step focuses on becoming aware of ourselves on a daily basis and beginning to live our lives fully and sincerely in each moment based on the true nature of reality.

Step Eleven

Sought through the practice of mindfulness and meditation to improve our connection with the universal consciousness.

This step is meant to be practiced on a daily basis to improve awareness and detachment from the egos desires. This step will help one maintain recovery and stay focused on the illuminating truth of the universe.

Step Twelve

Having become one with the universal source we continued to practice these principles in each moment of our life, acting as models for those seeking the peace and tranquility of these steps.

Finally, this step discusses the continuation of these steps in our moment to moment existence and to share this way of life with others that inhabit this world. To share this wisdom with others is the primary goal of these 12 steps, which in turn benefits the individual as well as the universe as a whole.

My hope is that through the application of these steps at least one human being can discover the principle truth of the universe and escape the suffering of the egos demands and desires.

What's Old is New Again as Comcast Passes Vonage

It appears a transition that has been building for a long time has reached fruition: Vonage, a pioneer of VoIP services, is no longer number one. This isn't much of a surprise, but it certainly marks an important corporate milestone.

Vonage has been on the critical list since it lost a patent infringement suit to Verizon. A recent NewsFactor story said that it signed only 57,000 customers during the second quarter, bringing its total to 2.45 million. Comcast, the new leader, added 671,000 customers and now serves more than 3 million people.

That milestone - coupled with the sudden flame out of SunRocket - appears to cement the longstanding shift to cable players and traditional telcos' VoIP offerings. These companies simply outdistance the stand-alones in every category, not the least of which is the ability to bundle voice, video and data services.

This is big business. Cable operators, who recently were told by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that they must contribute some of their VoIP fees for the bureau's budget, are angling to bypass the public switched telephone network (PSTN) entirely via peering arrangements. The industry also is set to go after businesses and wring even more money out of consumer wallets and small business budgets with a growing array of emerging standards. What is crystal clear is that this is an industry with the background and infrastructure to do more than standalone VoIP operations.

There is a bit of melancholy in this, though. VoIP, just a few short years ago, looked like a grass roots movement that would operate in a less corporate way than the traditional phone industry. As Robert Poe points out in a recent commentary at VoIP News, that was fated not to be. Ask people which corporate entity they would least like to see wrest supremacy from the legacy phone industry, many would say the cable industry. Says Poe:

[Cable operators'] fondest dream was not to overturn the status quo, but rather to become its new owners. Their strategy was to essentially replicate traditional telephone service features and prices, undercutting the incumbents just enough to gain market share, but no more.
Poe seems saddened that there appears to be no more than a marginal place on the corporate landscape for companies without big infrastructure and big backing. While independent companies remain, the reality is that VoIP has been transformed or, in many ways, restored to an earlier era. Said Poe:
"Cable companies' emergence as the largest and fastest-growing VoIP providers is the final proof that the revolution is dead."

The Federal Communications Commission ruled that cable companies will have to hand over a portion of their VoIP revenues to the government agency to help fund its annual budget. Read more about this at IT Business Edge: http://www.itbusinessedge.com/item/?ci=32408

An Easy Quick Recipe For Dinner Tonight - Taco Salad

Are you in need of an easy quick recipe for dinner? No matter how busy you are, your family still needs to eat. If you're the cook, dinner can become an insurmountable problem on a busy day. Take-out gets boring pretty quickly and puts a strain on the pocket book as well.

Lets face it, half the battle is in planning ahead. When you know the menu, and have the meat thawed, then an easy quick recipe like this one is a snap. If the dinner hour approaches with no plan in mind, then a lot of energy will be expended in the planning and shopping. With a few simple recipes and planned ahead menus you can have dinner on the table in double time.

This Taco Salad recipe is a staple at our house. Some people like the corn chips mixed into the salad, others like to eat the chips separately. If you want to mix it all up before serving that's ok also. You could add canned pinto or kidney beans that have drained and warmed. I like to serve it just like this. Some people use Thousand Island Dressing instead of the sour cream. The great thing about this meal is that the salad, meat and starch are all included in the one recipe. This is easy to double. I will usually cook extra meat for my freezer, giving me an additional easy quick meal in the future.

Taco Salad

1 pound ground beef

1 package taco seasoning mix

½ large or 1 small head of lettuce, shredded

1 avocado, sliced or diced

½ green bell pepper, sliced thin or diced

½ large diced onion

2 medium tomatoes, diced

1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

¼ cup black olives, sliced

1 package corn chips

1 jar salsa

½ cup sour cream, fat free sour cream works fine

  1. Prepare the taco meat according to seasoning package directions and let simmer until ready to serve.
  2. Shred the lettuce and dice the vegetables.
  3. I like to put out all the ingredients in separate bowls and let each person mix their own salad.
  4. Start with a bed of shredded lettuce, add vegetables. Top with the hot meat, then the cheese. A dollop of sour cream goes on top and surround with corn chips.

Become a Babe Magnet Without Surgery or Drugs!

"I'd like to find a partner who dances. Do you?" my profile on Match.com asked. My now-husband Drew emailed that he was willing to take lessons, and that was enough for me. Non-dancer Drews courage to put himself out on the dance floor and to show in lesson after lesson his amateur status was truly impressive. We took private dance instruction for a year before our wedding, and as a result, got around the dance floor quite gracefully at our reception.

Women are dying to dance. Any man who can ask a woman to dance, then take charge of what happens on the floor and move relatively smoothly to music, has enormous appeal. Fat or skinny, short, tall, or not even close to attractive, even old, old, old, a man who is comfortable on the dance floor has his pick of the ladies.

For whatever the reason, dancing intoxicates. Especially women.

Few men can really dance, and those guys are on the floor constantly. Some men think they can dance and do get up, ask the ladies, and have fun. But at least half the men sit or stand uncomfortably on the sidelines with all the women who wish to be on the dance floor.

We women don't get to dance nearly as much as we'd like to, even the ladies who are good dancers. There aren't enough dancing men to go around. You can almost feel the yearning, the sadness, and the disappointment in those women and between those non-dancing couples. And the non-dancing guys? Pathetic.

I personally know three women close to my age who met their now - spouses on the dance floor, and those ladies were great catches! Gentlemen and ladies, there's a message here.

Guys:

1. Take lessons and learn how to dance. Leading well takes skill, but if Drew could learn how, so can you.

2. Go to dances.

3. Ask women to dance. Lots of women. They'll love it. Even if you aren't so good, they'll appreciate your efforts.

Dance lessons themselves are good places to meet women, and most dance studios have regular parties for their students to practice what they have learned.

Ladies:

1. Take dancing lessons yourself and learn how to follow. Here I was, 50 years old, thinking I loved to dance, and I had no idea how to do the woman's part! Following takes skill! You have to figure out what your partner has in mind for you to do in a split second, and then actually do it, all while dancing backwards.

2. Buy yourself some real ballroom dancing shoes, maybe with high heels. Believe it or not, those shoes are comfortable. They have to be. Not only do they look very sexy, they stay on your feet!

3. Hang out at dances, too, if you like to dance. Single guys go to dances.

If you are connected to a dance studio, other single women will be at their parties as well as the studio instructors and male students, so you will know people. Dance parties are safe and comfortable for single women.

Guys -- nothing enhances as man's romantic marketability more than becoming a decent dancer. Learning to dance is cost efficient and relatively painless. No surgery or blood loss, no sweaty hours at the gym, no personality makeovers needed. Just dance lessons.

What's stopping you? Look up the dance studio nearest you and make that call! You'll become a dancing babe magnet!

10 Ways To Save Car Fuel

With the rising price of gas here are some tips to reduce you fuel costs, all what needed is for you to try them out so you can see for yourself. Here goes:-

1. Pump up your tires and keep at the correct pressure. Under inflated tires can use up to an extra 7% fuel.

2. Check the wheel the wheel alignment as misalignment can cause increased rolling resistance of your car. Therefore increasing your fuel consumption and wearing out your tires quicker.

3. Remove anything from your car boot that you do not require. For example an extra 30 kg's adds another 2% to fuel consumption.

4. Remove roof and bike racks etc if not in use as they cause air drag.

5. Fill up your car when you see the price for fuel reduced

6. Buy premium unleaded fuel only if will benefit the fuel economy of your car as it costs more to buy. Check your owner's manual to see if your car does actually benefit by using premium fuel.

7. Service your car regularly. For example a clogged air filter can add 10% to your fuel consumption and so can binding brakes or a clogged exhaust system. Regular oil changes with the correct oil will also save fuel as clean oil has better lubricating properties causing less friction in your engine and transmission.

8. Driving smoothly, with as little sudden acceleration or braking as possible, this evens out fuel use and improves the efficiency of your car's engine. If you change gears at the right time and also do it without strong braking and accelerating, you will save up to about 45% of petrol on the same distances!

9. Shutting all the windows will make your car that bit more aerodynamic.

10. Turning down the Air Conditioning will save fuel as the car does not have to work as hard to maintain a lower temperature.

Inaction Is The Greatest Risk Of All - Stop Thinking! Start Acting! Watch How Much You Accomplish!

Have you ever sat at your desk and began to think about all that was on your task list, all that is on your to-do list, your to-not-do list and wondered where to begin? What do I outsource, what do I do first, who will understand what is delayed?

Recently I was in a seminar where the Multi-Million dollar speaker, Hans Johnson made a statement that at first ruffled my intellectual feathers but later created for me a laser-sharp focus in the way I run my business. He said, Thinking can kill you! Procrastination, indecision, taking time to think about, consider, contemplate and re-evaluate could kill you! Stop thinking! Do something! Pick up the phone, get to work, if you make a mistake, forget about it, do something else, whatever you do take action!

Action is the key and yet we live in a society where people hide behind their factual memorization of information and their regurgitation of academia until we are all so intoxicated on our knowledge that no one is accomplishing anything! Inaction is typically present when there is confusion and to take one good hard look at our nation we can see some root issues of why we might be where we are at today.

When is the last time you looked at a list of prospects if you are in sales and rather than trying to figure out who you wanted to call first, what you should say, how you should say it you just picked up the phone and began dialing it out? Imagine where your ratios would be if you just took action everyday for over an hour straight.

When is the last time you sat rehearsing and cursing and evaluating your thoughts if you are in copywriting or marketing and you just set aside all the thinking and began to type, or record or speak or do something to get you to your goal?

Action is the key. Theres a popular book out called BLINK and it teaches that the first thought we have is usually the right one, the first inclination we have usually is the right one- imagine if the first thing you set out to do each day you actually accomplished, would that fuel or frustrate the rest of your day? Imagine if just 10% of all college graduates actually took action to get in front of one prospective place to work each day what kind of career could they land in their first year?

Stop thinking and start acting and even better, start tracking where the action is getting you!

The action of writing this article was a big step of faith for me and it was a big step towards no longer just thinking about where I wanted to be in the next 5 years. You see, during the last 28 months I have worked at home for a direct marketing company in the health and wellness field. I have prospected, closed, trained and duplicated until I was blue in the face! I broke records, took a failing track record in my own business and created results that made my head spin- my goal was to be debt free and we are, my focus was to be the best and I did become that in a lot of aspects- however there has been a writer inside of me since I was 5 years old that was begging to come out. Remembering that it was my 3rd grade teacher who told my mother that Id write one day for a living and rehearsing the hundreds of times I have heard that in over 20 years took me to a place of personal action on my own life.

Just last week I took a on the side Copywriting business to the position of creating a real-live company for myself. I enrolled in the AWAI 6-figure copywriting course. Cutting my direct marketing hours down to just 4 hours per week to protect attrition and keep the income high I made a commitment, took action, committed to work on my writing and my skills 20 hours per week. And here I am, taking action, submitting an article to ETR for review.

Action hasnt always been my normal mode of operation. Talking to people about what I might do someday, reading about what it might be like to take action one day and planning it all out for when I did finally take action has been a normal mode-of-operation for me for years.

Dreaming and contemplating and considering and processing. And then the speaker at the seminar hit me between the eyes. Take action! If you dont take action it could kill you. It could kill your dreams, your future, your chances at really seeing what you could become.

Take action, and watch where you could end up in the next 30 days!
